Color inspires me. It surrounds us and defines our world. I want to bring beauty and emotion into the lives and homes of each collector. I strive to create beauty from color and in doing so pull ideas from the world around us. Many of my paintings have a hint of astronomy and natural forces. These facets of creation have always called to me. As a young girl in Southern California, surrounded by city life I found nature wherever I could; above my head in the night sky and below my feet in urban gardens. I would dream of grandiose life among the stars and microscopic creatures in the soil below. These daydreams often occupied my sketches and eventually found their way into my painting. I have become fascinated with the balance of elements and organic matter. The idea that something can be asymmetrical yet balanced simultaneously. Nature, weather and space provide perfect starting points to begin my journey of creating beautiful expressions of color.
After attending university in Southern California and graduating with a Bachelors of Fine Arts, I found myself experimenting with the ideas that have followed me throughout my life. I strove to express the wonders that I perceived all around me using the colors that had always inspired me. I began my experiments with a guttural, almost primal approach to the canvas and paint and slowly made my journey through those first years to the respite (I dare not say destination; for I am always evolving my work) that I work in now. For this moment, these combinations of color and stroke take my mind and soul to the places of my dreams.
As my artistic journey has evolved, so has my physical journey. I'm now located in the Austin, TX area surrounded by nature and inspiration at every turn. They are located Downtown in the 2nd Street District.
